Free Chrome extensions
Nine testing extensions from the EqualWeb team - from single-dimension checks (contrast, headings, links, media) up to a full WCAG 2.2 page checker and a whole-domain crawler. Free on the Chrome Web Store. When you outgrow spot checks, the same engines power the Accessibility Testing suite - site-scale scans, monitoring and a 0-100 score.
The accessibility functions behind these tools
Each tool on this page exists as an accessibility function inside the EqualWeb widget - the difference is that on your site, visitors get them on every page, together with dozens more. The widget's function set includes:
- Reading and vision: text magnifier, font sizing and readable fonts, letter and line spacing, high-contrast and inverted color modes, monochrome and saturation control.
- Navigation: highlight links, highlight titles, big cursor, reading guide and reading mask, keyboard-only navigation with skip links.
- Motion and focus: blink and animation blocking, pause for moving content, reduced distractions.
- Assistive profiles: one-click presets for blind users (screen reader adjustments), motor impairments, color blindness, epilepsy, ADHD and dyslexia - see the full list on the profiles page.
Functions handle the visitor-side experience. The underlying code still needs to meet WCAG - that is what the Accessibility Testing suite and managed compliance are for.
Frequently asked questions
Are these tools really free?
Yes. The magnifier, link highlighter, color checker and single-page accessibility checker are free to use in the browser, with no account.
What are accessibility functions?
User-facing adjustments - magnification, contrast modes, link highlighting, animation blocking and similar - that let visitors adapt a website to their needs. In EqualWeb they are delivered by the accessibility widget.
Do accessibility functions make my site WCAG compliant?
They cover the visitor-adjustment layer and resolve many common barriers, but conformance is a property of your pages. Roughly a third of WCAG criteria are machine-checkable; the rest need testing and remediation.
